Notwithstanding the current ideological drift, democratic socialism is as appropriate as ever. It is the one political philosophy that fits the future.
What, after all, is democratic socialism? It is the recognition that economies and their devices, like markets, should serve people and their communities rather than vice versa. Nor should people and their communities be organized as if they were mere economic factors. People are first and foremost social beings. They and the land they live on, and their communities, and their cultural self expression, are primary and have their own, social rules. That's it one basic notion, at bottom but it means the world
We can and will succeed. |
